Stormy hangin out in Kansas!

Trip to Kansas

Last week Stormy and I took a trip to Kansas.  I went down to be with my mom while she had a minor surgical procedure so I decided it was time for Stormy to “learn” how to travel and get ready for show times.  She learned to “pee & poop” on a lead, practiced alot on the lead, and getting in and out of the kennel in the car.

She is growing up and will get to go into the show ring tomorrow and Sunday.  She is entered in the Eau Claire Dog Show along with Daisy and Goodman.  She has been practicing and does well gaiting however sometimes she doesn’t like to stand still.  Fortunately judges are usually tolerant with 6 month old puppies.  Wish us luck!!

Millerbull’s Hard Luck Horton

Millerbull’s Hard Luck Horton

Bean’s Litter…..

It has been almost 3 weeks since I have made a post and alot has happened.  Lolla Lea Lou was adopted and went to her new forever home 16 days ago.  She continues to recover from the “puppy strangles”.  She is growing and has a new big bully brother, Boris.  Her new name is “Bloomers”.

Horton is going to remain Horton.  The name just fits him.  He really believes that he is a big dog and just hangs out with the gang.  Just a few minutes ago I saw him laying out on the deck with Daisy and they were both sharing a bone.  He absolutely loves being outside and begins barking as soon as the door is open.

Come sis, let’s play!

Puppy Strangles

Wow, things can sure change in one day.  Saturday the pups were running around crazy and then on Sunday Lolla is sick.  On Saturday we noticed her lymph glands in her neck were swollen.  On Sunday she had a pimple like rash in her ears and muzzle, goopy eyes, had a fever and did not feel well.  The treatment is steroids, antibiotics, and time.  It is actually caused by their autoimmune system going into a “hyper” state.  According to our vet, once they get over it, it is gone.  It is not contagious and they don’t “catch” it.

Lolla is better today.  Eating more and actually was playing a little with a toy.  She still is not her spunky self and Horton cannot figure out what is going on.  We did separate them because he kept “bugging” her like any brother would do.

Outside exploring

Pup’s turned 9 weeks old on Saturday and finally we had a warm day so they could go outside and play.  At first they were not sure if they liked the grass but soon found out that it was alot of fun running around.

As of Saturday they were eating big puppy food, no more milk and were eating 3 meals a day with a night time milk cocktail before going to bed.  Horton weighed almost 13 lbs and Lolla was just under 12 lbs.

At this time we have decided that Horton is going to stay with us and Lolla will be going to her forever home soon.   We will see if Horton grows us to be a nice boy like his daddy!

Growing, Growing,……

Wow, I weighed the guys today and Horton is now 12 lbs 14oz while Lolla is 11 lbs 2 oz.  They are basically on dry puppy food.  We are mixing puppy kibble with a little milk and giving it to them together.  They are the funniest guys with eating.  Normally the pups see a food bowl and attack it.  These guys will eat for awhile, leave and play then come back to eat for awhile and then off exploring.  It takes them a good 15-20 minutes to finish up.

They love being out and about playing.  They will run away when they think we are going to be putting them in their pen.  They still sleep alot of the day but are waking up usually 30 minutes before it is time to eat.  After eating they get to run around for about 30 minutes and then they are ready to sack out again.

Tonight they graduated to the puppy pen.  Of course Lolla had to voice her opinion for about 20 minutes.  She does not like change.  Horton in the meantime just took up laying down and chewing on the toys.  She finally decided that she was ok in the new bed.

The picture is their Easter pic.  I took about 30 pictures with Randy and his son each trying to keep a puppy in the basket.  Neither puppy appreciated being put in a basket.  This is about the best I could do!

Millerbulls Mr Tamborine Man, alias Goodman

Clinton, Iowa Dog Showing

Last weekend Randy & I took to the road and traveled on to Clinton, Iowa to show our bully’s.  It was a great weekend for Millerbulls Kennels.  On Saturday Daisy received Winners Bitch and Best of Opposites, Lizzy was Reserve Winners Bitch and Goodman also received Reserve Winners Dog.  On Sunday though Goodman came away with Best of Breed and then went on to place 4th in the Non-Sporting Group.

We also had some “fun time” and got to spend time in Galena, Il which is a wonderful town full of great shops and resturants.  But even more fun was going to our favorite winery for a little tasting and coming home with a fresh supply of great wine.

7 weeks & more

Horton is finally larger then Lolla Lee Lou.  He started out bigger then fell way behind.  We finally figured out that he was eating slower then her so she was taking advantage of the situation and eating a good portion of his.  We started separating them and he has now surpassed his sister.  Horton now weighs 8#8oz and Lolla 8#7oz or 4010 gms & 3960gms.

They really love being out and about playing on the floor.  They chase each other, bark, and run after Stormy.  She is really very gentle with them unlike when she is with the big dogs.

6 1/2 weeks old

We returned on Monday from a successful trip to the KC Bulldog Specialty show.  We showed Goodman & Daisy all 3 days and received ribbons on both dogs all 3 days.  We would have preferred a blue or purple ribbon but the truth is there were more dogs without ribbons then with ribbons.

The pups did well for our son and got fat while we were gone.  They gained nice weight and are really growing up.  I was glad to see them when we returned.

They are eating 4 times a day with milk at bedtime.  We are thickening up their food trying to graduate them to dry food.

We also gave them their first vacinations so now they can have visitors!
